This Site Is Not a Records Office. Fayette County Property Records is a private reference, not a government custodian. We cannot retrieve or certify an instrument, conduct a title search, or change an assessment. Direct official-record requests to the office that keeps the file. For emergencies, call 911. If you face stalking or harassment, contact local law enforcement.
Route Your Fayette County Records Request
Use the office responsible for the record rather than sending a deed, tax, and mapping request to one general inbox:
- Who owns a property, or what it sold for: see the Fayette County property search
- Deeds and chain of title: see Fayette County deed records
- Assessed value, exemptions, and tax bills: see Fayette County property tax records
- Boundaries and parcel numbers: see Fayette County parcel maps
- The offices behind the records: see Fayette County property records offices
- Records not available online: direct a written request under the West Virginia Freedom of Information Act, W. Va. Code §§29B-1-1 through 29B-1-7, to the custodian with a reasonably specific description

FOIA requests should name the records custodian, give the parcel or property address when available, identify the record type and date range, and ask for electronic copies if those records exist in that format. The statute generally requires a response within five days, excluding Saturdays, Sundays, and legal holidays; permitted charges are limited to actual reproduction costs. It does not require the office to perform a title search. See West Virginia Code §29B-1-3 and verify current office routing before submitting a request.
